Final FAA Rule on 737 Flight Data Recorders

FAA issued a final rule Dec. 2 amending regulations for flight data recorders. The amended guidelines increase the DFDR parameters for Boeing 737 series aircraft manufactured after Aug. 18, 2000. Today's Chicago Tribune reports that United Airlines plans to lay off 700 mechanics in Chicago, San Francisco (home of United Services ), New York, Newark and Philadelphia.
